KMCF Founded in 2005

Kurdistan Mountaineering and Climbing Federation (KMCF) is an authorized Organization from the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), founded in 2006 to make a standard infrastructure for outdoor activities and specially Mountaineering and Climbing in the Kurdistan Region.  There are different fields of activities that its members can do under some rules and principles, The citizens of Kurdistan regional governments can be members of the federation. Our target is to introduce, develop, and regulation of Mountaineering and Climbing activities in the area. As well as it includes all Teams, groups, and Clubs related to each field in the rest of the region.

Objectives

  • Introduction, development, and supervision of mountaineering sports in Kurdistan.
  • There is a good potential for mountaineering activities to be a popular national sport in Kurdistan.
  • Efforts to universalize these sports will contribute to the health, safety, and happiness of Kurdistan society.
  • Establishing and developing mountaineering camps and shelters in proper locations.
  • Establishing and developing sites and requirements for different fields of mountain sports in suitable places such as artificial walls, mountain bike tracks, and ski tracks.
  • Drafting plans and regulating the necessary rules and laws for mountaineering sports in Kurdistan that all groups and clubs active should follow them.
  • To improve the knowledge, technical, and experience level of mountaineering sports through various training courses and activities according to international standards, especially the UIAA.
  • Recording information on suitable places for mountain and mountaineering sports and establishing signs, guidelines, rules, and necessary laws for this purpose.
  • Making opportunities for Kurdish climbers to be active at an international level and expedition as Kurdistan selected team.
